Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility

The environmental impact and our corporate social responsibilities are very important to everyone at The Independents Hotel Association.

Based in a rural location, we appreciate our environment and are keen to help to preserve it for future generations. Where possible we aim to reduce our energy usage and promote the use of low energy electrical apparatus. We actively recycle waste food such as tea-bags through composting.

We have moved towards a "paperless office" making more use of email rather that printed faxes. We encourage others to do the same.

Above all we want to make The Independents a friendly and responsible workplace which in-turn makes for a happy workplace.

We encourage our member hotels to get government advice on how Hotels and Guesthouses can become more environmentally friendly.

Defra provide advice on how we as individuals can help reduce our "carbon footprint".
